News from Executive Director, Vickie Snyder

Valentine’s Day is celebrated this month – typically a day when we celebrate our “true love.” Love can mean many things to many different people. This February I would like to introduce a new reason to celebrate Valentine’s Day at DevonHouse. This February we’re celebrating love in the form of kindness. I would like to ask everyone – staff, residents, families and friends – to take just a few minutes each day to be kind to each other, especially when the snow is piling up and it’s challenging to get around!

News from Chef Jim’s Kitchen

In celebration of Valentine’s Day, we will have a formal candlelight dinner on the evening of February 13. I hope to see everyone dress up for the special event!

Bakers club will meet later in the month. In keeping with the Valentine’s Day theme, we will be making something chocolate. Please attend in the activity room to help us bake!

The new menus are almost complete and will be rolling out this month. It’s an open menu program, so I can always make adjustments to please your appetites.

News from the Activity Department

This month’s theme is “Share the Love.”

At DevonHouse we love to give back to the community. All month long we will be hosting a “Share the Love” pet food drive, which will benefit S.O.A.R. (Staring Over Animal Rescue). Cat and dog food donations of any kind will be accepted. We’re pleased that Western Salisbury Elementary School second graders, Boy Scout Troop #5, and local Girl Scouts will assist us in our efforts.

We’ll also be selling homemade treats and crafts at our annual Valentine Sale, Friday, February 13th. Later that evening, enjoy an extra special Valentine’s dinner in our dining room. Dress to impress! A king and queen will be crowned, based on the results of our candy count contest. The closest man and woman to guess how many candies are in the container without going over will win the crowns!
