News from Executive Director, Vickie Snyder
As you know this winter was one of the worst winters that we have had in years. Unfortunately, our patio did not make it through the winter. As a result, the entire patio must be replaced, with a new design that will prevent the same issues from happening next winter. I realize this will be an inconvenience for a few weeks, but the construction will give us a top-notch patio to enjoy for a long time. We hope that the entire project will be done by Memorial Day and the patio will be set up for our first outdoor picnic.
Because of the new construction and an event planned for Father’s Day weekend by the Emmaus Garden Club, we will be postponing the annual community day (Daizy Daze) to Saturday, September 12th. So, instead of a party to kick off the season, we have will a big party to end the season.
Speaking of the Father’s Day event, the Emmaus Garden Club is holding their annual event here at DevonHouse! The event will run Saturday and Sunday of Father’s Day weekend, with displays inside and outside. Residents, staff, family, and friends are invited to enjoy. I understand this will be a “bridal themed event” and DevonHouse will be serving TWO special desserts on Sunday to celebrate both this event and Father’s Day.
Please enjoy the warm weather outside that is promised! Just remember to avoid the sun for too long and drink plenty of water.

For the month of May, we will be celebrating Mother’s Day. We will have a lovely Mother’s Day meal served during lunch on Sunday, May 10. Later in the month we will celebrate Memorial Day with a picnic on the patio. We will also serve the same menu inside if you prefer to stay indoors.
The week after Memorial Day we will kick off our weekly patio lunches. We will serve right off the grill outside and do that weekly all the way to autumn.
Our theme meal lunch buffet this month will be a BBQ Bash.
The Bakers Club will meet later in the month on a Thursday. Please join us to help bake and enjoy the delicious results!
