pineapple

News from Executive Director, Vickie Snyder

My goodness, I don’t think we can get much hotter! Or, maybe I should be careful not to suggest that Mother Nature cannot deliver a bigger punch? In any case, we have a fun plan to help you and your families stay a little cooler, whether it is 75 or 95 degrees outside.

We now have ice cream cups and ice cream sandwiches available from noon to 6:00 p.m. everyday. We hope you and your family will consider a cool refreshment, whether you are out on one of the patios or relaxing in the TV lounge. Or, you can enjoy a sweet in your own suite!

We encourage you to be diligent in drinking water and staying out of the sun during these hot summer days. Remember that long sleeves are a good way of protecting against the sun, but too many layers of clothing can be dangerous and cause you to overheat and become ill. Please be careful!

I hope everyone is enjoying the hazy, lazy “daze” of summer and will take advantage of our new and improved activity schedule. Take a fresh look this month. There is something for everyone!

Enjoy!

News from Chef Jim’s Kitchen

Our famous Luau theme meal buffet is coming up on August 21 to celebrate Hawaiian Luau month. Melissa will transform the dining room with Hawaiian decorations for a true island experience. The menu will feature traditional Hawaiian dishes with flavors of BBQ and pineapple, and there will be a Hawaiian wedding cake for dessert. Our bakers club will keep the theme going with another sweet Hawaiian treat.

We will continue picnicking every Wednesday and Friday through Labor Day until the weather changes in the Fall.

News from the Activity Department

August is our Hawaiian luau month!

Nine new activities have been added to our already packed activity calendar. Some of these include a Sunday country ride, weekly sing-a-longs, and an art therapy class. There is something for everyone!
