News from Executive Director, Vickie Snyder

While the air may be turning slightly cooler and the sun setting just a bit earlier, the busy schedule at DevonHouse keeps on! Our bi-weekly patio lunches continue, weather permitting. Melissa has some great entertainment lined up for this month, so be sure to check out the NEW calendar.

Speaking of NEW, I hope you and your families have had time to check out our new facebook page.

Your safety is our utmost concern, so we remind you to always sign out when you leave the building with a family member or friend, and to sign back in when you return. Also for your safety, in the coming weeks our staff will make routine checks of rooms to ensure that your emergency phone numbers are near your phones and that your furnishings are in good repair. If the timing is not convenient, please do not hesitate to ask the staff to come back at a different time.

Happy Autumn!

News from Chef Jim’s Kitchen

September already, where did the summer go? We have a special picnic planned for Labor Day, with picnic style food both in the dining room and on the patio. As we move into autumn, our bi-weekly patio picnics will continue throughout September until Mother Nature kicks us out.

Our monthly theme meal buffet will be based on honey. This is a new theme meal idea for us and it is sure to be fun and tasty! Bakers club will meet later in the month and we will carry over the theme of honey, incorporating it into our baked goods.

We’re preparing some seasonal menu changes for October, so be on the lookout!

News from the Activity Department

September is here. Kids are back in school. The days are getting shorter. Temperatures are getting cooler. It’s the perfect time to sit around the campfire or go on a hayride!

That brings us to September’s theme: we’re celebrating the wild wild west this month. Highlights include a “Home on the Range” sing-a-long with Glen Pritchard, and “OK Corral” bingo with special cowboy prizes. The wild west lunch comes to town mid-month, followed by the ladies’ “Party ’til the Cows Come Home” tea.

It’s all on the new weekly calendars, which are now larger and easier to read. Please be sure to pick up your copy!

P.S. You can see more about the activities our residents enjoy on our facebook page.
