News from Executive Director, Vickie Snyder

The leaves are just so bright and beautiful this season that it’s hard to regret the falling temperatures! I hope you’ll continue to enjoy the warm afternoons on the patios. They’ll be open until our first really cold days.

Inside, we’ll be keeping everyone warm with two new large generators that should handle almost anything Mother Nature sends our way this winter.

Our annual Thanksgiving feast will be held during lunch on Thanksgiving day, with a lighter meal at dinner. I hope all of you will have a safe and healthy holiday! Whether you are spending the day out with family or here with the DevonHouse family, on behalf of everyone I wish you a very happy holiday.

Happy autumn to all!

News from Chef Jim’s Kitchen

It’s November and that means we are celebrating Thanksgiving! We will serve a traditional Thanksgiving Day feast at lunch on Thanksgiving Day. (Our lighter meal will be during the dinner hour.)

Our theme meal buffet this month is “Harvest Moon,” with autumn inspired dishes.

Bakers club will meet later in the month and bake a resident’s favorite cake. We’re excited about sharing recipes!

Our famous annual pie sale starts this month, too! From mid-November to mid-January, you can order a pie at the front desk and we will bake and box for you to take to your relatives’ homes for the holidays.

Our cool weather menu goes into full swing this month. Look for changes to the menus – especially the dinner menus – for new warming, seasonal entrees, vegetables, and desserts.

News from the Activity Department

Thank you to everyone who participated in our trick-or-treat night on October 30th. Thanks to you, it was a lot of fun and a great success!

In November we are celebrating Veteran’s Day and Thanksgiving. The Emmaus American Legion will be here on Thursday, November 5th at 1:30 PM to honor all of our residents who are veterans, just in time for Veterans Day which is observed on November 11th.

P.S. You can see more about the activities our residents enjoy on our facebook page.
