From the Desk of the Executive Director, Rodney Jackson

I am so pleased to be here with all of you at DevonHouse Senior Living! The community is warm and inviting, the staff are, welcoming and the residents are a delight. I’ve met so many wonderful people since I began here at the end of December, and I look forward to meeting more friends and families of residents in the coming weeks and months.

For those of you I’ve yet to meet, a few words of introduction: I have been a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator for over 30 years. Most of my career has been in skilled nursing at facilities around Philadelphia. I’m a native of Punxsutawney, PA (Go Groundhogs!), and I graduated from Penn State University with a degree in hospital / nursing home administration.

Along with me every day at DevonHouse is my dog, Snickers. Snickers is a 15 year old blind miniature Dachshund. He has been blind since birth and he enjoys the attention and company he gets coming to work with me.

I am looking forward to meeting everyone, so please feel free to stop by and say hello! My door is always open.

Love is in the air! It’s Valentine’s Day all month long. Dinner and dancing anyone? Our special Valentine’s dinner is on February 15th, and our Friday Dancercise this month will have us learning the cupid shuffle.

I’m pleased to announce that we’ve officially kicked off our Red Hat Society Chapter, which is open to all fun, fabulous females over 50. The “DevonHouse Divas” meet on the first Wednesday of every month. Our goal is to socialize (of course!) while providing purposeful service to local charities.

This month we are making heart shaped crayons and Valentines for our 2nd grade friends at Western Salisbury Elementary School, along with blank coloring pages for our 2nd annual coloring contest. Their completed works of art from the students will be posted on the activity room wall. Please come in to cast your vote! We award prizes to the top three.
