Happy New Year!

The beginning of the new year is such a wonderfully creative time. With the promise of a fresh start, new projects and ideas come together.

In addition to the longtime events and activities that have become DevonHouse traditions, like our bake sales, holiday open houses, and summer patio picnics, 2017 brings new opportunities to delight. Our “Dream Catchers” program to grant a wish to nominated residents and staff launches this month. And, as you begin filling in your 2017 calendar, please add our first Friends and Family Sunday Brunch on March 12th.

We’re excited to ring in the year with our warm community of residents, friends, family, and staff. All of us at DevonHouse wish you health, happiness and good luck in 2017!

We’re shaking off the January chill with a “Winter Wonderland” theme in January. Our monthly theme meal will feature menu items that will keep you warm in the cold winter months, all with gourmet flair.

Exciting dining events are coming your way in 2017! Look for a friends and family brunch once every season where we pull out the stops to welcome you into our community. As you mark your 2017 calendar, please include the first Sunday Friends and Family Brunch on March 12th. Be on the lookout for more information!

Bakers Club will meet later in the month. Do you have favorite family recipes you’d like us to feature? Please let Melissa know.

Finally, thank you to everyone who purchased a pie during our annual holiday pie sale. We sold well over 60 pies!

News from Activities

Allentown Senior Living Activities Director
As we start the new year, we are excited about finding creative ways to make 2017 truly terrific. That starts this month with a new program: Dream Catchers. Each month a nominated DevonHouse resident or staff member will have a wish granted.

Our first recipient is resident Violet Haberle. True to her name, Violet has a strong affection for the color purple. She even drove a purple Camaro, purchased when she was 69 years old!

Violet is getting her wish for wild purple streaks in her hair, supplied by our hairdresser. Watch our Facebook page for the fabulous results!

Thanks so much to everyone who joined us for our holiday events. Everyone enjoyed spending time with families and friends of DevonHouse, and we look forward to seeing you throughout 2017.
-Melissa Bartynski, Director of Activities

P.S. You can see more about the activities our residents enjoy on our facebook page.
