From The Desk Of The Executive Director

This month we delight in paying special tribute to our mothers, who nurtured us and selflessly guided us to become the adults we are today.

Personally, it has taken me years of reflection to fully understand the complexities of my own mother and the forces that molded and motivated her in her lifetime. She was a self-made career woman who fought against the prejudices of the time to work her way up the corporate ladder and achieve success in her field.

As youth, we can be so judgmental of our elders. As we age, we develop a sense of gratitude and awe of the obstacles that previous generations surmounted to give us the opportunities we enjoy today.

This is the generation that is served by DevonHouse. Every day we pay them tribute through our efforts and say a special “thank you” for a lifetime of service.

On Memorial Day, may we remember all those who have served in the armed forces and protected the freedoms we enjoy. The Greatest Generation representing WWII along with those men and women of the Korean Conflict still reign at DevonHouse.

Thank you to all veterans for your service!

News from Chef Jim’s Kitchen

Allentown Senior Living Food and Beverage Manager
We’re celebrating Mother’s Day and Memorial Day at DevonHouse this month. On Mother’s Day, we will have a special meal served at lunch, featuring fresh, in-season strawberries.

In celebration of Memorial Day, we’re having an outside-inside picnic. I look forward to seeing you on the patio for traditional picnic fare like grilled hot dogs and grilled hamburgers with all the fixings, plus a featured salad.

Memorial Day also kicks off for our weekly patio lunches! Every Wednesday (with a rain date of Friday) we’ll have lunch on the patio, picnic style. Patio lunches feature a special menu that is different from the dining room menu. Patio lunches are held weekly throughout the summer into early fall, when the weather brings us back indoors.

By now the new menu system is fully in place, and I hope everyone is enjoying it. Your feedback is welcomed.
