From The Desk Of The Executive Director

image of holiday candlesWow, the holidays have arrived! Signs of the holiday season arrive earlier and earlier each year, but now it’s really here with seasonal music non-stop until New Year’s Day to keep us all in the spirit.

At my home, my daughters-in-law have a ritual: as soon as the turkey has been consumed on Thanksgiving Day, they gear up for a fun day of Black Friday shopping together. They grab their coupons and plot for the best bargains at every store.

Like many others, I enjoy finding a special gift that enhances the receiver’s joy, too. It may be a home-cooked meal that is delivered and shared in companionship with a homebound relative. I also enjoy placing a personal handwritten note in my seasonal cards rather than just a preprinted signature.

Hopefully, it brings a smile to the receiver and a glimpse into my life. I find that when I focus on the important elements of the season ¬– family and friends – the hoopla that surrounds me takes a sabbatical, leaving a sense of peace and tranquility in this season of busy-ness.

Our residents have cherished memories of past holidays – memories of loved ones that have passed and of children that have grown. It is a very special time to relive time honored traditions with family and friends. We invite everyone to join us over the holidays to make some new memories!

Warmest wishes,
