From The Desk Of The Executive Director
September is a time to create new memories, as families head to the beach to catch the last rays of summer and start getting the kids ready for another school year.
And, Grandparents Day on September 8th is another great family opportunity! Remember to reach out and wish the grandparents in your life a great day!
I find the still warm, rainy days of September refreshing as they cool us off from the hot days of summer. When the drizzle clears, it’s a perfect time to come out for the barbecues on Wednesdays! We’ll continue them until the weather gets too cool to be outside.
This month, DevonHouse hosts our annual Volunteer Dinner. This is our way of giving back and saying “thank you” to our dedicated first responders from the fire department, EMS, and police department, and to all of the volunteers who are so important to our community.
Enjoy the rest of the summer-like days, I look forward to seeing everyone soon!
News from Chef Jim’s Kitchen
We’re starting off the month celebrating Labor Day. Rain or shine, there will be a picnic on the patio!
Speaking of picnics, our weekly patio cookouts continue throughout September, until Mother Nature says it’s time to head indoors for the year.
Our next Friends & Family Brunch is on September 15th. We can accommodate reservations of up to eight people. Guests will be seated at 1:00 pm. Once this seating is fully reserved, earlier seatings will be offered.
The next theme meal is on September 19th at dinner. Get ready to kick up your heels with a western theme!

News from Activities
The leaves may be starting to come down outside, but we’re ready to grow some new leaves on our family tree! I’m looking for photos of DevonHouse residents at special times in their lives, whether it’s a portrait from a landmark event or a candid photo from a happy day. Please submit your picture to me. I’ll make a copy and return your original photo right away.
Let’s start up a new card group. Since our poker group didn’t have as much of a draw (ha!) as we expected, I’m looking for interest in other games. If you are interested in participating in a card group or starting a new one please let me know.
Finally, our next painting class with Judy Peters is on September 12th. Please sign up if you would like to attend. Judy will teach you step by step how to create a lovely work of art!

P.S. You can see more about the activities our residents enjoy on our facebook page. Schedule highlights for the month are here.
