From The Desk Of The Executive Director
Sweaters, coats, and decorations… November has arrived!
Along with the first really cold air of the season, November brings so many reasons to celebrate and honor our senior family members and friends.
First, there is Veterans Day on November 11th. Then, at the end of the month on November 28th, we celebrate Thanksgiving Day.
More than just big meal, Thanksgiving is a great time to get together and give thanks for all that we have, especially for our family and friends.
The days are getting shorter – we turn the clocks back on Sunday, November 3rd. The shorter days make festive decorations all that much more fun and bright, so be sure to come visit us to see the new decor up for the holidays!
I wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving, and a happy, bright holiday season.
News from Chef Jim’s Kitchen
It’s November, and we’re kicking off the holiday season with our Thanksgiving feast. On Thanksgiving Day, we will serve a traditional Thanksgiving meal of turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie, and more. The Thanksgiving menu will be served at the lunch time hours, with a lighter meal at dinner.
If you’re planning to leave DevonHouse on Thanksgiving Day, please do let us know in advance, so I can plan enough food for this special day.
November also kicks off our annual pie sale. We have a variety of pies available to purchase throughout the holidays. Let us do the baking for you! Pies will be baked, boxed, and ready for you on the day you specify. Please look for more details on signs around DevonHouse this month.

News from Activities
Thanks to everyone for coming out and making our annual trick or treat night a success last month!
Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and we’re getting into the spirit of giving. Our “Cookies for Kids’ Cancer” bake sale is coming up on Friday, November 15th. Be a good cookie and get a giant cookie! The proceeds of the bake sale benefit pediatric cancer research.
This month is your last chance to submit photos for the DevonHouse family tree! I’m looking for photos of DevonHouse residents at special times in their lives, whether it’s a portrait from a landmark event or a candid photo from a happy day. Please submit your picture to me. I’ll make a copy and return your original photo right away.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
