From The Desk Of The Executive Director
I hope that everyone is faring well in this new way of life, and staying safe and healthy.
It’s such a pleasure to have the benefit of good weather now! Nothing perks up the spirits like sunshine, fresh air, and a warm breeze, so we’re making the most of it. We’ve started a program to ensure that all residents who would like to enjoy the outdoors on our beautiful patio are able to do so, with assistance from staff to stay safe and maintain physical distancing six feet away from each other.
Dining has always been a highlight at DevonHouse, and we’re making sure that continues with in-room dining service, too. Of course, we have our regular delicious menu and theme meals. Plus, we’re also taking requests when any resident has craving for something special. We do our best to find just the right thing to brighten up the day!
Like everyone else, we’re focused on keeping everyone in our community healthy, safe, and happy. That means getting creative and using all of our resources. Not only are we offering puzzles and word games to help keep busy, but our living room library is open, with plenty of books to enjoy.
The enhanced safety, cleaning, and social distancing protocols will continue into the month of June. I’d like to remind families and friends that we our staff are available to help set up FaceTime calls with residents, so that everyone can stay in touch.
I so very much appreciate everyone’s continued understanding and patience as we adjust to the changing environment.
Here at DevonHouse, we continue to work together to protect the physical health and overall wellbeing of our community.
I wish each and every one of you a safe, healthy, and happy summer.
News from Chef Jim’s Kitchen
We’re celebrating Father’s Day on June 21st with special menu items served at all three meals. We’re taking time to honor all the fathers among us, but it’s for everyone to enjoy!
As the weather warms, finding ways to stay hydrated is especially important. That’s why we’ve provided 16oz cups with lids for each resident, and our resident services staff are providing refills with fresh ice and water.
We will continue in-room dining service for as long as it is best for everyone’s safety, and we’ll look forward to being back in the dining room when it is safe to do so.
Stay well and stay safe!

News from Activities
Summer is here, and with the weather getting nice and warm, it’s time for “fresh air friends.” Each day, I’m helping accompany residents outside to stretch, enjoy the fresh air, and soak up some vitamin D. It’s so nice to get outside!
We are also continuing our FaceTime calls with families and friends. If you haven’t yet participated and would like to do so, please call our main number. All you have to to do is provide your name, cell phone number, and the best time you can be reached. We will handle the rest!
I miss all of you and look forward to the time that we get to be together again!
-Melissa Bartynski, Director of Activities
P.S. You can see more about the activities our residents enjoy on our facebook page. Schedule highlights for the month are here.
