DevonHouse Senior Living | January 2021 News & Events
News from Chef Jim’s Kitchen
Happy new year! We are kicking off 2021 by celebrating New Year’s Day with a traditional pork and sauerkraut dinner. Eating pork and sauerkraut on New Year’s Day is said to bring good luck for the rest of the year.
Throughout January, there are great food events on the calendar. Events include:
– Friday socials (Wine & Cheese, or Ice Cream Social)
– 1/7 Spaghetti Day
– 1/12 Soup Day
– 1/19 Popcorn Day
There is more, too. The events calendar is right outside the dining room, so be sure to have a look!

News from Activities
January is the perfect time to try something new and set goals for the coming year. My goal is to find new and fun ways to keep everyone happy, entertained, and engaged, no matter what!
I am trying something new this month by “crowdsourcing” programs. Do you have any interesting DVDs to share? We love concerts, Broadway shows and documentaries (especially regional documentaries like the history of Hess’ Department Store). Think: Andre Bocelli, Michael Bublé, Straight No Chaser, Riverdance, or Celtic Women. Of course, I’ll return your DVD to you.
Ready to chat? “Facetime Fridays” is the time, 3:00-4:00 pm. If you have an Apple product and would like to be called please contact me at mbartynski at devonhouseniorliving dot com. It is first come, first served, unless you have a preferred day.
Stay safe!

P.S. You can see more about the activities our residents enjoy on our facebook page. Schedule highlights for the month are here.
